Buying a home is the biggest single investment most people will ever make. As a result the process is almost always stressful and emotional. A professional home inspection helps you to be sure you're making the right decision by providing an expert and objective evaluation of the property.

Just to be clear, there are no perfect houses. Most of the inspection will point out maintenance issues, life expectancies of components, and minor imperfections. These should have little if any impact on the sale of the home. More importantly, I am also looking for safety or health hazards, major defects such as structural failure, minor defects that could lead to expensive repairs, or things that may interfere with financing, insuring, or legally occupying the home.

No house is perfect, but the cost to repair defects discovered can make the fee for a home inspection seem insignificant by comparison. Keeping the size of your investment in mind, please resist the temptation to go with the cheapest home inspector on the market … you almost always get what you pay for!
